Rated 5 out of 5 by from The debate roll on we clarification "From a Bartender's Perspective" wrote that there are 16 teaspoon in a cup but there are 48 teaspoons or 16 tablespoons. True simple syrup is one to one or I have also seen 2 to 1, so Truvia being 200 time sweeter then sugar. This recipe then calls for 3 1/2 TBsp or 10.5 tsp. Would it not be better to make smaller amount (fresher) then a larger amount? So what is shelf of this recipe or if you make it with sterilizing process?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From a Bartender's Perspective.... Standard rules apply using Truvia as they do with Simple Syrup. First, 1 packet of Truvia = 2 tsp sugar. There are 16 tsp in a cup of sugar. Bring 1 1/2 cup water to a rolling boil for 1 1/2 - 2 minutes. (NOTE: The additional 1/2 cup of water is for evaporation purposes during the sterilizing process.) Add 8 Truvia packets or 16 tsp Truvia bulk. Stir until dissolved. Let cool. Pour into container. Will keep in refrigerator for 2 weeks if sealed properly (because you sterilized the water through the boiling process!).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not the best for cocktails. Several of the other reviews have said the same thing, this simple syrup is just meh for a lot of cocktails. I agree but wanted to chime in because I've been making both a simple syrup and a "grenadine" syrup using the Truvia baking blend and I think it works great. I use a 1:0.5 ratio of water/pomegranate juice (with a little lemon for the grenadine) to Truvia baking blend. So, 1 cup water/juice to 1/2 cup Truvia baking blend. Yes, it has sugar but it is significantly reduced.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Traditional Simple Syrup This is a super easy to make recipe, and if you want a low calorie version of sugar that's' not artificial this is a go to. It however has a very distinctive taste. It'd probably work for iced coffee or sweetening iced tea. I'd not use it in alcohol, but it's pretty decent.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DEFINITELY NOT for making an Old Fashioned I like truvia for sweetening things like strawberries that need it, but I wanted an Old Fashioned and made this "simple syrup" with hopes of cutting a few calories. Does NOT taste like simple syrup and will NOT use this in drinks. Also, is it REALLY 3 1/2 TABLESPOONS of truvia to 1/2 cup of water???

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not so hot This is a healthier version of simple syrup however the the vanillin flavor that is in Truvia is NOT conductive to all of it's uses. Might be good as a cake moistener but in a Margarita or Mojito it was less that perfect.
