Ingredients

Pecan Soak

  • 1 cup pecan halves

  • 12 cup water

  • 14 cup bourbon

Pie Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust/pastry dough

  • 14 cup unsalted butter

  • 14 cup Truvia Sweet Complete Brown Sweetener

  • 14 cup light corn syrup

  • 2 tsp bourbon

  • 12 - 1 tsp orange zest

  • 1 egg

  • 14 tsp vanilla

  • 14 tsp cinnamon

Directions

  • 1.

Mix ¼ cup of bourbon with ½ cup of water to create a mixture to soak the pecans in. Add 1 cup of pecans to the mixture and allow them to soak for 10 minutes. This will help the smokey flavor adhere to the nuts.

  • 2.

Following your smoker instructions, cold smoke the pecans for 10-30 minutes. The longer you smoke the pecans, the stronger the flavor will be.

  • 3.

Preheat the oven to 350° F.

  • 4.

In a medium sized saucepan, melt butter on low heat.

  • 5.

Add the Truvia Sweet Complete Brown and corn syrup to butter, stir until well combined.

  • 6.

Add orange peel, bourbon, vanilla and cinnamon. Mix and remove from heat.

  • 7.

Beat the egg in a medium bowl, add to the sweetener mixture.

  • 8.

Roll the pie crust out and cut into 6 pieces. Place each piece into a 6 muffin tin pan or 6 ramekins, slightly crimping the edges.

  • 9.

Fill each pan with the 16 of pecans (about 2 12 Tbsp).

  • 10.

Pour roughly 2 Tbsp of the sweetener mixture over the pecans of the 6 pies.

  • 11.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the mixture is set and the crust has browned.

  • 12.

Remove from the oven and let cool.
