Mashed Sweet Potatoes Recipe with Truvía® Natural Sweetener

  • 2 lbs. sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes

  • 1 lb. mashed sweet plantains or bananas

  • 1 stick (14 lb.) of unsalted butter

  • 1 grapefruit, zested and juiced

  • 12 to 1 cup low-sodium chicken stock

  • 1 cup vanilla almond milk*

  • 14 cup of zero-calorie Truvía® Natural Sweetener Spoonable***

  • 12 tsp grated nutmeg

  • 12 tsp of cinnamon

  • Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

*or 1 cup skim milk plus 12 tsp vanilla extract


  1. Boil potatoes until tender, drain, and keep to the side.

  2. Return the pot to the burner over medium heat. Add butter and plantains to the pot and cook for about 5 minutes.

  3. Add the juice of 1 grapefruit to the pot. Save the zest.

  4. Add sweet potatoes, 12 cup chicken stock, almond milk and Truvía® Natural Sweetener to the pot. Mash together until well combined. Add remaining 12 cup chicken stock in small increments to desired consistency.

  5. Season with nutmeg, cinnamon, salt, pepper and grapefruit zest to your taste.
