Spring into Nutrition Orange Spiced Poached Pears with Truvía® Nectar

Created by Travis London of Healthy Chic Eats, these Orange Spiced Poached Pears are the perfect combination of citrus and sweet. This recipe is made with Truvía® Nectar and contains 18% less sugar* than the full-sugar version. Makes 5 glazed pears.

  • Serving Size: 1 glazed pear (379g)

  • 2 cups orange juice

  • 2 12 cup water

  • 2 tbsp Truvía® Nectar

  • 1 tsp nutmeg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 14 tsp ground ginger

  • 4 tbsp lemon juice

  • Fresh mint sprigs, washed

  1. Combine poaching liquid ingredients in a large pot.

  2. Bring liquid to a boil, and then reduce heat and simmer, covered for 20 minutes.

  3. Gently place pears in poaching liquid and simmer on low for one hour, partially covered, turning the pears every couple of minutes to make sure they absorb the color evenly. The pears should just be tender (test with skewer).

  4. Once tender, carefully remove pears from poaching liquid and let cool.

  5. Continue to reduce poaching liquid, turning up the heat and stirring continuously until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon.

  6. Serve in glass serving cups and spoon the glaze evenly over the pears.

  7. Garnish with a mint sprig.

  8. Store unused portion in sealed container in the refrigerator.
