Apple Cinnamon Waffles made with Truvia

Delicate sweetness with a hearty apple punch. This reduced-sugar waffle contains 45% less sugar* than the full-sugar version. Makes 5 waffles.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted

  • 2 Tbsp Truvía® Cane Sugar Blend

  • 2 tsp. salt

  • 1 Tbsp of baking powder

  • 2 tsp cinnamon

  • 2 large eggs, separated

  • 1 14 cup skim milk

  • 13 cup canola oil

  • 1 apple, washed and finely chopped

Directions

  • 1.

    In a medium bowl, add sifted flour and mix in Truvia® Cane Sugar Blend, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.

  • 2.

    In a small bowl, beat eggwhites* until stiff. Set aside.

  • 3.

    In a medium bowl, beat egg yolk* well and stir in milk and oil.

  • 4.

    Add sifted dry ingredients to the yolk mixture but lightly mix until just moist.

  • 5.

    Fold in egg whites.

  • 6.

    Gently mix in apple pieces.

  • 7.

    Bake in preheated waffle maker until golden brown (approximately 4-5 minutes).

*Each serving has 230 calories and 6 grams of sugar per serving, compared to the full-sugar version that has 250 calories and 11 grams of sugar per serving.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great way to use apples! THis was a great twist on regular old waffles! The recipe was simple. I didn't sift the flour and I would try that next time. Also this is a great way to use apples that might not be the best for snacking or that have a bruise or two!
